Jiefei WangWelcome! I am a Ph.D. student at Indiana University Bloomington, where I work with my advisor Prof. Dr. David P. Giedroc on Transition Metal Homeostasis in Bacterial Pathogens. I received my B.S. in Biosciences, University of Science and Technology of China in 2013. My research interests lie in quantitative chemical biology of infectious disease, using massive amount of data associated with -omics approaches, biochemistry and structure determination. Contact:

Project: The response of Acinetobacter baumannii to human-mediated metal starvation
Discovered response to calprotectin-induced iron and zinc starvation in A. baumannii via metal quantification with ICP-MS, transcriptome and proteome analysis; biochemically and structurally characterized a new player involved in the dual regulation of flavin biosynthesis pathway.
Discovered a putative Zn-dependent cell wall-modifying enzyme via UPLC-MS-based peptidoglycan profiling.
Discovered the role of histidine in Zn-buffering in maintaining Zn homeostasis through characterizing metal binding and enzymetic acitivity of a putative GTPase-dependent Zn chaperone and its potential client target in histidine utilization pathway.
Research Assistant, July. 2012 – May. 2013
Project: Site-specific incorporation of unnatural amino acid at two sites and distance measurement by 19F NMR
Inspected protein-protein interaction by 19F NMR.
